Gutters are needed throughout the country, though in Zimbabwe, they become even more important due to the amount of rainfall that is seen each year. Gutters are responsible for funnelling the water off of the roof and away from your home. This ensures that you have the protection on your home as well as your walkways for friends and family.
When water is funnelled away from your home, you have the ability to protect the siding, windows, doors, and even foundation. You don’t want puddles forming on the outside of your home because this can lead to problems with the shifting of your foundation, mould on your siding, and even a destruction of landscaping.
Water around all of your walkways can also become problematic. You don’t want to deal with puddles of water on the sidewalks or the path leading up to your front door. The reason is because it can lead to slips and falls. You don’t want anyone getting hurt on the way to or from your house, so the gutters can prevent this from happening.
Gutters are able to protect from:
- Home flooding
- Rotting and rusting of exterior elements
- Damage to landscaping
- Staining wood framing
- Erosion of soil
- Mold on outside of home
- Infestations of mosquitoes in standing water
- Cracked or damaged foundation
These various issues could be costly to repair, which means that gutters ultimately protect your home against repairs that are extremely expensive. They pay for themselves because you don’t have to worry about many of these issues. The water will be taken from the roof and sent down the yard so that it will then go into the drains along the street.
